Footlong?
By now I'm sure everyone out there who watches TV is familiar with Subway's $5 footlong commercials. Something has been bothering me for the longest time about one commercial from this series. I've discussed it with my wife and couple of friends, but I feel like it needs to be circulated for broader commentary.
Please watch this video and pay close attention to what happens around the 0:14 mark:
The monster in the commercial is supposed to be Godzilla or something similar, right? Some quick internet research reveals the following about Godzilla's size:
Taking that height estimate into account, and assuming that the people who appear in the commercial approximating the footlong distance average 6 feet tall (probably generous, but stay with me here), wouldn't that mean Godzilla is actually showing a 28-foot sub? A sub that would cost at least $140? I rest my case. What do you think?
In the 1954 Japanese original, Dr. Yamane estimates that Godzilla is 50 meters tall (167 feet).
