Snow Football on the Dartmouth Green - December 9, 2009

Ahh, now THIS is the Dartmouth I remember. When that first heavy snow of the year fell, it was time to take the football out to the Green and get crazy. Because of course the snow on the ground meant no more of that one-hand or two-hand touch stuff... it was full on tackle football FTW.

My most memorable snow football game was played my senior fall. One of the freshman guys went down awkwardly and needed help getting off the field. I would later see him on crutches (broken leg). I managed to escape serious injury, but the next morning I woke up sore for the first time in my life. I could not figure out what was going on. It turned out this was my introduction to getting old. I was sore because my 20 year-old body could no longer withstand the rigors of padless tackle football.

Anyhow, I'm glad to see snow football on the Green remains a part of Dartmouth tradition!
